Welcome to Arbor Intermediate School, Room 17!  I am
your child's English Language Arts, Math, Science, and
Social Studies teacher.  I am looking forward to getting
to know you and anticipate a rewarding, successful school
year full of learning and fun!

In our classroom, we will be working hard to create an
atmosphere of hard work, effort, and respect. Through
our everyday lessons and activities, you will learn many
valuable lessons and life skills, such as responsibility
and cooperation.

Throughout the year, I anticipate many exciting  activities,
surprises, and challenges in our classroom.  With my
continued and ongoing support, as well as the support of
your parents, I am confident that you will be inspired to
have fun learning and strive to be successful in 4th grade
this school year.

Warm regards,
Mrs. LaMarsh

ROOM 17 News
In Literacy, we will be using Readers and Writers Workshop.
Students will be taught a concept and see it modeled for
them.  Then, students will be provided opportunities to
practice these skills individually and/or in small groups.  In
small groups, students will review skills and discuss concepts
taught during our lessons.  In addition to small groups, I will
use individual conferences to meet with students in order to
assess understanding and provide extra help when/if needed.
Time and careful planning will be used in our classroom in the
beginning of our school year in order for students to get
accustomed to the routines and procedures for Readers and
Writers Workshop.

In Math, students will begin the year learning about place-
value concepts, addition, and subtraction to one million.

In Social Studies, the students will be learning about
Geography.  The students will be introduced to compass
directions, maps, latitude and longitude.  Giving relative
locations, especially from where we live, will also be explored.
