Welcome New 5th Graders!
In 5th grade, we will be learning so many new and exciting skills! In Literacy this marking period, students will be working in book clubs to read and interpret various fiction books, focusing on elements such as character traits and the impact of setting.  Students will also work on writing personal narratives, telling the story of a small moment in their lives that stands out to them.
In Social Studies, students will learn about many aspects of our nation's geography, including climate, landforms, and natural resources.

Upcoming Projects:

*Regions Project - due Oct 10 (Room 31 only)
See project details below.

You have been recruited by the United States government to help with spreading the word about our country’s 5 regions.  Many U.S. citizens do not know enough information about each region, and we need you to educate them.

Your mission: Create a brochure for one of the 5 regions (Northeast, Southeast, Southwest, West, or Midwest).  Your brochure must include the following information:

  • Climate
  • Area
  • Population
  • Map of the region
  • List of the states the region includes
  • Landforms
  • Natural resources
  • Reasons to visit the region (example: tourist attractions, famous people who lived there)

DUE: Oct. 10
