More than 200 4th and 5th grade students and their families got a chance to visit Piscataway High School on March 17 for the first Honor Society Family Night, spotlighting the wide variety of academic and extracurricular opportunities that await them in high school.

The night was led by the National Honor Society and adviser Holly Cregar-Porch and included a dozen other student organizations that offered engaging educational activities for their young visitors. Each room was transformed by a different organization, creating a vibrant and engaging experience for attendees.

The National English Honor Society offered a reading station, an adopt-a-book station, a bookmark station, and an origami station. The Math National Honor Society (Mu Alpha Theta) shared an interactive digital cipher. The Technology Student Association (TSA) challenged students to build a bridge capable of holding the greatest amount of weight using simple materials. The National History Honor Society (Rho Kappa) hosted a historical scavenger hunt. The International Thespian Society led theatre games. The Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica provided an interactive cultural and language experience celebrating Hispanic culture. The Tri-M Music Honor Society featured an instrument “petting zoo.”

The event was eye-opening for parents and students alike, and the National Honor Society looks forward to continuing it in future years, partnering with other honor societies at PHS to give back to the community and inspire young students.
